I write.
-
One novel, two non-fiction books, and a coffee table book . . . so far.
-
Oodles of stories for dozens of magazines, beginning at LIFE magazine back when LIFE still mattered, as well as Vanity Fair, Fortune, Travel + Leisure, Sports Illustrated, This Old House, and many more.
I edit.
-
A few years ago I founded Skybox Press, now the leading custom publisher of distinctive sports commemorative books.
I keep my priorities straight.
-
My infinitely better half, Lisa. We met our first week freshman year at the University of Oregon and have both kept our word and our sense of humor.
-
Our daughter and three sons. Proof that Lisa and I have done at least four things right.
-
Our relatives, friends, and pets. Typically in that order depending on the day.
-
My work. I abide the words of a wise man who once said, "A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds."
-
My teams. Oregon Ducks, San Francisco Giants, Golden State Warriors, San Francisco 49ers, Boston Bruins.
I do not:
-
Feel compelled to spend time or money creating a fancy web site.
-
Like the designated hitter rule in baseball.
-
Engage in political discourse on social media; that is what pubs are for.
I say:
I hope to:
-
Speak fluent Swedish.
-
Surf more.
-
Coach again.
